Perfect Porch Sitting

William Geddes Photography

There's nothing better than summer porch sitting and, if you can relax in the shade without making the house too dark, all the better. For that perfect combination of taming the rays and letting in the light--not to mention, loads of charm--nothing beats a pergola with a few well-placed vines.

This compilation is especially for our friend Courtney, who is contemplating making a pergola part of her Texas renovation. We hope these give you the inspiration you're looking for!

Everything about this design is amazing, but we especially love the beautiful garden seats.

This garden is so amazing. I never can figure out how something can look so well planned yet unfussy at the same time!

Wow, if it wasn't 100 here, we could enjoy a porch.
These porches are beautiful, and the Bob Villa is my favorite, although I love them all. I can't wait for a cool night to sit outside! 70 and no humidity would be great.
Have a great weekend, ladies.

The weather is hot here now and your first picture would be the perfect place to be. Instead, I'll have to make do with a parasol.

Oh I adore the first porch, especially the topiary surrounding it! We are in the process of creating a terrace at the back of the house and these are such wonderful inspiration!

Never met a pergola I didnt' love. LOVE them...they are so beautiful, practical and are obvious places to grow all kinds of beautiful flowering plants. They make wonderful entertaining spaces and I love each and every image you chose above. My personal fave would have to be that lake house by Diane Shae.....does that not look like the most relaxing setting imaginable? How beautiful.....love this concept and to me, if someone has a place to put one, it should absolutley be done!! I hope I can eventually put one somewhere in the new house!

Beautiful porches and pergolas! And having a fireplace outside as in the last pic is really unusual, isn't it?

Hope you are both having a wonderful weekend!

There's nothing better than a beautiful porch to sit on in gorgeous weather. We finally have a sunny day here in Seattle and I'll be out back scrubbing down my teak furniture so I can enjoy it! xo

There is something so special about spending time outdoors...with just the right amount of shade and amiance. All of these spaces beckon you to come, sit and relax.

Hope you had a chance to do just that this weekend!

Big sigh, loving all these outdoor spaces and we’ve more then enjoyed ours all weekend. Funny but I looked at mister man this afternoon and made the remark that we have this great big old house and come summer we’re out on the porch morning, noon and night. I love that great outdoor place on the water so beautiful. Wonderful post and I hope you got to enjoy your porch this weekend as well.

I don't have a porch at this home, but we had on our old house and I miss it so much. I think it's the perfect place to spend summer nights.

Wishing you a very blessed week!

There are some lovely examples here... perfect for Summer living, isn't it? I like how adaptable these spaces may be... one day, perfect for breakfast, the next, an evening soiree, the next, a bridal shower... I look upon our courtyard with a smile, always, for the beautiful memories that have taken place there... thanks for the inspiration :)
