Here are a few differences between this Thanksgiving and last. Last Thanksgiving, I would have done this post the week before Thanksgiving, having already had the table set, as opposed to a week late.
Last Thanksgiving, we used linen napkins and tablecloth, fine china, crystal and silverware.
This year, we were thankful for Juliska that runs through the dishwasher like a pro, silverware that doesn't require polishing, and that we got the oversized dish drawer on top that holds our wine glasses. (Incidentally, I think the guests enjoyed the size enhancement of their Thanksgiving beverages.)
Last year, the centerpieces were lavish flower arrangements. This year, Mom and I threw them into vases five minutes before family arrived. I have to admit, though, Mom bought these peacocks at Caniche in Salisbury and brought them to me as a hostess gift. They're definitely keepers, even after we go back to the fancy stuff next year.
As our family grows in size, so do all the things we're thankful for. And I think I've just found one more: Holidays that are as meaningful over paper plates as they are over Flora Danica.
It may be a week late, but the sentiment is just the same. We're thankful for all of our readers, followers and fellow bloggers who have become our good friends over the past year or so.
Stay tuned for a post in the not-too-near future when life settles down a bit on finally getting around to redoing this dining room! :)

I think as i get older I get more like that. I figure- what will be will be! Even though it is a week late, it is beautiful. I think it also looks Christmas-ie to. What is important is the time we spend being thankful and realizing the blessings in our life.
absolutely gorgeous!

Very beautifully dressed tables - I prefer last year's table setting. xx
I think the table and flowers look gorgeous! Love those peacocks!
Your table looks fabulous. We went in the same direction last year, and the table looks just as beautiful and we enjoyed our night more, knowing that we could spend more time together.
I love my silver, linen, and china, but it is not what makes the holiday, family does. I can imagine that it is very busy around your home now with the new bundle of joy!
Can't wait to see the new dining room. I can't imagine it looking more beautiful.

I think your table looks beautiful! I love the peacocks - they are definitely a keeper. I'm glad you showed us your table even if it was late. Maybe we'll see your Christmas table sometime next year! When I had new babies, I don't think anything happened in my house so you are doing well! x Sharon
First of all, the table is stunning and those peacocks are incredible. I love that you were able to give up what wasn't important and still enjoy the beauty of a simple table and most importantly being together. We had a similar situation ... with our new granddaughter and her parents still 'camping' in their new place with most of their belongings still in storage (and hours away from us), we at on paper plates, plastic forks (I know!) and 2 extra barstools we picked up on Thanksgiving at Walmart! But the grocery store had beautiful roses that looked amazing in her Michael Aram bark vase (not sure why she had that and no silverware!) and we were so very thankful to be together and for our beautiful new baby girl who is our world right now.
That's a stunning table setting! It's not about the fancy expensive stuff, but the love you put into it which really shows here and makes it all the more beautiful!
Meera xx
Just stunning in every way......love love love the phesants!!!! And sometimes less is more with flowers and to me everything was done to total perfection. Great taste, a little improvising and a lot of love for the people you are preparing this for go a loooooong way!!
So happy your holiday was a great one!
What a charming post. Like you, I'm in the mood for easier and simpler holiday celebrations this year. And thankful for the friends and family who gather at the table, no matter what it's set with.
Time is a funny thing, isn't it? When we're young, we're in a hurry. As we age, time feels like it is moving faster, but we pause to savor and are less ruffled by the little things. We gently remind our clients that as much as they like or as important as it may be to them, "It's only furniture." You wrote a wonderful post. Thank you...
BTW - Beautiful chgandelier and wainscot!
Cheers,
John
Looked stunning! We are all thankful for your delightful blog too...I just love the images you ladies find! xx Danielle
Considering you have a new baby who is probably keeping you very busy your table looks wonderful. I prefer the more simple but elegant setting and those peacocks are fabulous!
Enjoy your weekend!
Debra
Yep a baby changes everything! Of course your table is still lovely. Adore the peacocks!
All best,
Lynn
Lovely table! I'm sure you were so happy to be with your new little one this Thanksgiving. You seem very organized to me. I'm always late. No Christmas up at my house yet!
The peacocks are a delight. I'm so impressed that you were able to keep things simple - yet so beautiful. As I rack my brain for table ideas for a Christmas dinner party next week, I'll take a moment to remember this! And it's the people who are around the table that are the most beautiful part if the evening.
I think your "un fancy" table is gorgeous and I love traditional dining rooms so if you never redo it, I love it.
Your table is lovely! Less is more, especially when you have a little one! I know you are enjoying every minute of it!
I think the more comfortable we get with being ourselves with family and friends the better...regrdless if we have time to really go all out or make things much more simple..isn't it just wonderful to be together. Wishing you the best holiday season ever with your wonderful new son. XO, Mona
What a lovely post! Your table is stunning :)

I simplified tyhis year s well but did something that is absolutely taboo..don't tell! I put my Herend china and all my silver in the dishwasher after our wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. I thought I like things that show their history with years of wear so in it went and I didn't look back. It came out just as nice as it went in. Love the peacocks and your dining room and table are both lovely!
Wow, Beautiful!!
Beautiful!
What an elegant table love the way the tails of the peacocks drapes over the width of the table, those are so pretty. I love the colors of the room too, just lovely.
that's a beautiful table!.. so "Design chic"
Oh I love this post!!! Isn't it interesting how we change after we bring little miracles into the world?
Very beautifully dressed tables, look great!
