Monday Musing: Bring on the Bunnies!

Chris Everard Photography
Holidays have always been a wonderful time to share with friends and family, but now that Will is here I've really started to think about how we celebrate and, obviously, how we decorate!

I know he's only four months old, but it's never too early to start wonderful traditions for your children, right?

pinterest
I did buy a gorgeous Easter tree last year that I'm excited to decorate, and I'm hoping to find someone who can paint a beautiful ornament for every year of Will's little life to hang on it, just like my mom did for me.
Good Wishes Quilts
But that's all just tiny details. Here's the big thing: What is Will's Easter basket going to look like? Mine was hot pink with a beautiful hand-painted bunny with a fuzzy cotton tail and my name painted. It had a perfect handle for throwing over your arm and collecting eggs galore. That baby won a few Easter egg hunts, let me tell you.
I like this one because I think it doesn't look so much like a baby, and he could have it until the Easter bunny quits hopping by. But the handles are a bit of a problem. I don't think that one will really be able to compete on the church lawn. And I can tell you already, this kid is going to be a take-no-prisoners egg hunter.

I absolutely love these painted buckets. They're a bit of a twist on the classic basket and kind of boyish. The bunny is quintessentially Easter, but I have to say...

I love the monkey!! I'm kind of obsessed with monkeys in general. My china is Juliska Petit Singe (little monkey!).
Sewing Bee
Just a basic basket with his name could be cute and very classic.

And the painting on these is sweet.

I have baskets like these organizing diapers etc. in my car... And the bunny could bring a lot of loot! (Which is good as he has started purchasing already.) And, of course, it could hold a lot of eggs.
So what's your take on Easter baskets? What do your kids love and where did you find it? Oh, the challenges of motherhood :)

At least Easter flowers are easy. Throw some tulips in a silver pitcher, and you're good to go! We hope it's a beautiful Monday where you are!

These images are gorgeous. I really like the canvas with monogram and Juliska!

You know me, I'm all about traditions so I love the fact that you are decorating for your little guy.... so sweet! My girls have the gingham lined monogrammed baskets (I think I found them at Homegoods actually) and I love pulling them out each year. It's so hard to decide; I say a bucket for Easter egg hunts (it's easier to carry) and a basket for the Easter bunny to put treats in on Easter morning. How's that for justification! :)

I love that you are already thinking about this for Will. We still have our daughters basket (pink with painted hens and eggs) and I like to bring it out to decorate the table at Easter...Our "baby" is 20, and she loves that I saved these treasures. Have fun:)

I was always planning to get Stella a personalized basket from Pottery barn, but then ran into a really cute one at Michael's or JoAnn's or somewhere like that. I love that first basket, though. I'm weird, because I'm waiting until we have our second, so that they can have matching baskets.

My kids are now teens (sigh), they've had the same vintage baskets every year, though is spruce them up a little every year. I have some beautiful tin eggs I designed back in my Starbuck days, based on Italian stationary. Every year, the easter bunny fills them and distributes them for the kids to find. Yes, it is never too early to establish traditions.

My first child was due at Easter so I decorated the nursery that way and I just love it for little ones! It is a sweet, fresh time of year full of new beginnings just like a child! I was just looking at some the other day but since mine are older now I had the sad realization that the easter bunny won't be around for us much longer - what a bummer! Enjoy these special years with Will! Thanks also for your wonderful comments during my absence - they were so thoughtful!

All so cute! My boys had buckets and still have although the older ones are a bit past believing in the Easter Bunny. They are still more than happy to pretend for the younger ones as long as they get the eggs to eat! I think the buckets are more indestructible than the others and believe me, with boys, that is a big factor! x Sharon

My basket was this funny looking little yellow wicker things with a tall wicker handle. Somehow it survived the years of abuse a young boy will unavoidably heap upon such objects. I suspect that if I were to poke around in my Mom's attic, I'd find it tucked away in a corner for safe keeping...

Cheers,
John

My favorite thing to do with my son (he loves it and still thinks its is real) is to take chocolate syrup and make easter bunny footprints from the door to where is basket is left by the fireplace...and then complain "look what the easter bunny did to mommies floor with his dirty feet!"

Ok, so I'm absolutely loving this blog!!! I am a retired interior designer and love all of the beautiful photos. And oddly enough for this color lover, I'm now craving some white/offwhite rooms! Thank you for all the beauty.
