When you think of twin beds, elegance might not be the first thing that pops to mind. But when it comes to great design, twin beds aren't just for the youngest among us. Properly attired and styled to impress, twin beds can create a grown-up look that's chic and sophisticated.

When housing guests -- especially in a second home -- it's always nice to have sleeping space for more. Twin beds allow friends who might not necessarily be comfortable sharing a bed to bunk together. This grown-up blue and orange color palette would appeal to anyone, young or old, male or female.

| SLC Interiors If you think of twin beds as boring, think again. Those plain, pink upholstered headboards that were in your childhood bedroom are nowhere to be found in these twin retreats. These gorgeous headboards add a fabulous focal point to this room. |

Just because a room is short on space doesn't mean it has to be short on style. This bold, striped fabric creates impact and height, while taking advantage of every square in of space. We love it!

One thing we love about twin beds is the great art that can go over them. These prints are absolutely gorgeous!

Nothing makes a bed like luxurious linens. We could curl right up in these luscious down comforters. The pop of zebra print adds whimsy and fun to this staid setup.

Those attic spaces that are so charming and cozy can be difficult to decorate. A pair -- or three -- twin beds fits the slops perfectly. Doesn't this look like the most fun place to have a (grown-up) sleepover?

A tufted, upholstered headboard is a timeless addition to any bedroom.

These beds are great, but, for us, the painted bamboo chest steals the show!

We are all about Swedish gray antiques right now. This chest is light enough to feel soft and soothing but still adds weight to the design scheme.

These French cane beds are the essence of the twin bed all grown up.

Maybe Lucy and Ricky had the right idea all along... Twin beds are so fabulous!

Great post! I like the James Howard room.
beautiful!! One thing that I've done is instead of using twin beds, use 2 full size beds in a room (if you have the room). That tiny bit of extra bedspace makes a huge difference!

Great guest room ideas!
All best,
Phyllis
I love twin beds in a guest room. My daughter will be switching rooms in our house soon which will give me a new guest room to create. I have been toying with the twin beds idea. Thanks for the inspiration!
Love Love Love the New England Home photograph. I am glad you pointed out using twin beds in an elegant way. Too often we just think of them only as kids beds. I have been in so many guests rooms where they try to cram a huge king bed in a smaller space and it just looks unbalanced. Twin beds would actually work better in so many guest room spaces. Have a great day! - Tonya
I love the look of two twins in a room, especially when there is a fabulous antique chest between them. You show some gorgeous examples!
I love twin beds and put a pair in one of our guest rooms. You picked some lovely images to show them at their best.

Again, you both have a WINNER! I love all the examples you have posted. Twin beds are perfect for guests rooms.....
Oh, I did vote for you!!!
These are quite grown up! I must say my best sleep has always been in a single bed alone! (pssst - don't tell my husband!) These rooms are gorgeous!
The first image is my favorite and I have always thought of them for kid's rooms but you found so many sophisticated choices.
really incredible examples..makes me want twins...beds that is!
Love this look for a guest room or kids room. So versatile!
Fabulous, indeed! Because I love symmetry, I think twin beds are awesome. The room by James Howard is my favorite. That would look great in your Beaufort house :)
Cheers,
Loi
All so pretty!! I love them and that New England Home pic is one of my favorites......something about them feels so cozy and inviting. Great roundup of images to prove the point. Thanks for your kind message:) Getting back on track!
Wow, these are all perfect images of twin beds! They have always been on my "must" list for my house and had a pair made by a wonderful craftsman probably 18 years ago…they are in my daughter's room and I can honestly say they are still my favorite things in my house! So elegant but understated! Loved this post!
Love ALL of these, fab post! I've not spent much time pondering twinnies, will have to devote some blog tine to them soon!

I don't mind sleeping in a twin bed when visiting someone. The twin bed set up can be so pretty. I like the chest in the middle with 2 great lamps.
We now have a queen in our guest room but I thought the twin beds were prettier.
Great post.

Such an inspiring, interesting post. I hadn't thought if twin beds in the guest room until now but it definitely makes sense. Have a great weekend!
Gorgeous inspirations! I adore the first two ideas the most, they remind me of visiting English castles and feel very warm and cosy.
