Tents and Teepees

Francois Halard Photography

Grown-up or child, we all need a little bit of space that is all ours. Last week, I was looking for the perfect gift for my nephew's two-year-old birthday. I wanted to give him a cute tent to put in the yard, but Mom suggested a teepee instead. What a perfect gift! He loves it, learned a great, new, easy-to-pronounce vocabulary word, and, most important, it looks adorable in the house but can go outside at any time. Definitely a winning combination.  These teepees are not only the perfect place for a child's imagination to run wild, but also add a whimsical design touch to the room (or yard). We hope you love them as much as we do!

This is definitely a tent suited for both playtime and cocktail hour. How fun that everyone in the family can fit inside!

This is such an adorable way to priss up the teepee idea a bit. I think I just saw it in Restoration Hardware baby...

Check out the gingerella picture and compare it to this one. It's the same room all grown up, right? That chair is too distinctive to be a coincidence!
Happy Wednesday, everyone! Hope it's beautiful where you are!

Forget the children I want a teepee for me. I wanted to get one the other year to go to V festival but the ones I found were soooo expensive & everyone talked me out of it after teasing me heaps. Well we pitched up close to a teepee for that weekend & it was a godsend in the crowds of tents & darkness because it got us back to where we needed as it stuck out.....not so much mocking then can I point out!!

Have I told you I have a tent in my dining room??? Shhhh It's a secret!!! LOL

My kids got it for Christmas (Thank you mother-in-law!!!) and I can't take them apart or my kids would go crazy! LOL So, I keep it there, until they get tired of it, or until they're 20. We'll see what comes 1st! :-)

I hope you're having a great day!

That family sized tent reminds me of Harry Potter. Real furnishings and everything. So cool.

Oh how fun, I need to get a tent!!

You would think that a tent or teepee outside of a child's room would be an eyesore but these are actually very cute. Of course Crush Cul de Sac is the best one of all. Cocktails anyone?

These are so cute. What kiddo wouldn't love to hang in one of these? We know they all prefer to be in small spaces all huddled up together..really cute.

What a fun post!!! Wish I had a pic of my nephews tent when he was just a little guy and stayed with us to share with you. Not near as pretty as these, but oh so special. He took a plastic yellow check tablecloth I had and some sticks and made a teepee in our front yard. I think he emptied my pantry out to stock it. This post brought back a very precious memory!

What a perfect gift, indeed! I must say, I am not sure what it is about tents or teepees that seems to offer such a sense of fun and adventure, but it's wonderful. I recall building pretty tents with tablecloths and sheets as a child, loving the fact that I had my little space, completely to myself. How fun it is to think of those times again...

Hope you have a wonderful Friday. Can you believe that the weekend is nearly upon us?

LOVE TPs! Word of warning on the Restoration Hardware one. Bought one for my g-daughter and it didn't hold up. And, it wasn't cause she was tugging at it (she was only one at the time!) It is also VERY large and you need a large space for it. Not really suited for a bedroom (unless you have a mammoth bedroom!

oh, I still love, love, love them though!!! Great post!!!

Adorable! I love the idea - remember in The Holiday- when Cameron Diaz goes into the cute tent with Jude Law's daughters? i always loved that scene and of course it's the tent that makes it!

The baby teepees are incredibly sweet. I love how they impart a sense of whimsical play while some of the designs you shared are surprisingly elegant at the same time. Such fun.

Can you tell me where the fabric or teepee came from that is in the second photo captioned castles and crowns? I am trying to find the fabric, it is perfect!

Sarah Sherwood said...

Hey, that photo you credited to "Castle, Crown and Cottage", do you know if that teepee is available for purchase? I actually was thinking of getting a teepee with maps on it and I freaked when I saw that. Any further information would be deeply appreciated. Thanks.
