Things We Love: Mannequins

Made by Girl
We love unique, three-dimensional accessories that really make a room pop. If you're looking to add interest and height to a small, awkward corner or other space that seems to "need" something that you can't quite place, mannequins can be an unexpected option. We like them best in the bedroom because they double as a great place to hang necklaces, scarves or your party dress for tomorrow night. Just make sure you don't wake up in the middle of the night thinking there's someone lurking in your room!

Does anyone else watch Bethenny Ever After? She just received one of these adorable iron mannequins for her birthday that is now in her bedroom. We love the iron ones because they are interesting all on their own, even if you don't dress them up!

These are so fun in a room! Yes, I admit I watch Bethenny. I think she's great. I have to say I liked the rusty old version of hers before it was painted out for her birthday.

You ladies always produce such pretty and comprehensive posts! How do you do it??

Great idea to use the mannequins for jewelry.

I love the rooms from Country Living with that theme. Maybe it's because I've shabbied my master, I,m partial.

These mannequins are so much fun, I love it. I have several antique ones dressing up my studio, one small French 18th century one that I called Henri!

Beautiful mannequin inspiration images. I have always wanted a mannequin in my home but my hubby is not very keen about the idea. Perhaps, I will have to wait till I got my mom cave one day, then I can put one in there. My favorite spaces are #1, #2 and #4.

Oh, by the way, I did a post regarding acrylic furniture today and it features a chair just like the one in picture #1. I don't see that chair often, what a coincidence! :)

Its always so fun to see what object that you will pick out to highlight. The first time I went through them I was just looking at the mannequins...my second time through I noticed how beautiful the other parts of the interiors were!

I'm with you, they are such a fun touch in a room...especially if you put your own little touch on them...Apparently, we aren't the only ones that like them (c:

This post makes me think I should move my medieval armor out of the basement playroom and in to the main house. It's just too cool with odd/chic objects.

Just absolutely love this post! I think mannequins add such a great touch to a room other than the bedroom. I love the one with the hat!

What an interesting and fun idea. And would be so great to check out how outfits look or for girls who like to dress up - so many possibilities!!

I would love a dress form to hang all of my scarves/long necklaces on! It brings me back to my days spent dressing mannequins as a visual designer. xo

Such beautiful images! I don't know if I could put in a mannequin in my home for the reason you listed: what if I wake up in the middle of the night-don't want to get shocked, haha!

My dear, these are stunning photos of a iconic subject that speaks so much elegance. An old tattered form, one donned with a simple scarf emanates such beauty. It speaks PARIS to me! And every one of your images is just perfect. Thank you for visiting my faery tale yesterday; it is always a pleasure to see you and come to your world. Anita

Hello friends,

I have actually been looking for a vintage one myself (both on Ebay an at local galleries). I want one to hang chunky necklaces on! The ones I have seen so far have been too tippy or too moldy looking! But I know that someday the perfect one will move in with me!

Inspirational post as always!

I love mannequins too, even if it is using them as decoration with flowers covering the bust (as seen in one of your images).
Great uses in all the pictures!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Thank you for this amazing post! I have been a lover of the vintage mannequin and is on my constant wish list next to a Christian Louboutin shoes.

I'm going to show this post to my husband...hopefully he'll finally understand my obsession :).

I absolutely love vintage mannequins and have had my eyes out for one to add to my home. Bethenny's mannequin was such a great find and so nice of her in-laws to repaint and fix it up. Great post!!
