Home Away from Home...

Desire to Inspire
When life becomes too hectic for an actual getaway, sometimes it's nice to know that your next vacation can be as close as your own backyard.

Traditional Home Magazine
These dreamy guest cottages look like the perfect place to escape,

little book of secrets
miles away from ordinary, even when you haven't gone any place at all.

Brabourne Farm
Whether it's an afternoon with tea and a good book,

Katarina Regina
recharging with your fingers in the dirt,

little book of secrets
Or even a night away from the answering machine (and laundry!),

vintage rose

there's no place more charming to escape than to a pint-sized cottage for two.

Cottage Living Magazine
If you have to cross an enchanted bridge to get there,

tiny white daisies

tiptoe along a cobblestone path to a storybook door,

verhext
or spend a night with only candlelight to reconnect with someone you love, so much the better.

Ada and Darcy
We hope you are all enjoying your summer and taking the time to get away, even if it's in your own backyard!

Ok, this post is seriously perfect! I would love to have a beautiful and quaint guest house. There are times when I threaten to build a home that small.
Have a wonderful Monday, ladies.

Completely lovely! I'm all for a leisurely summer escape---and what could be better to have to go no farther than out the back door and across the lawn!

Wow...just dreamy!! Sometimes when life gets crazy I literally lay down and pretend I'm relaxing in a far away cottage or tree house (:

Here at The Doll House, there's nothing I'd like better than - well - a doll's house in the garden. I'd happily take any one of these.

This could not have come at a better time, when my day has been hectic with a capital H, taking a short "coffee break' from the madness and so funny because my husband and talk about building a very small log cabin (very small) in the back of the property as total getaway/refuge from the rest of the crazy world. This post epitomizes what I am after and dream about. I am so bookmarking this so I can come back and get inspiration (and show it to my husband) Absolutley delightful..especially love that second one, LOVE it!

Owning a cottage doesn't seem that far out of reach when it's pint size. They are adorable.

Love the idea of a little guest cottage get away. I have always wanted one...b/c of the restrictions where we live, it won't be at this house. But, I will keep dreaming.

Just darling...each and every one!

completely enchanted and must check the covenants in our neighborhood to see if we would be put in jail for erecting a wee guest house.

Oh now these are making me want to have more space in my yard...that SECOND ONE IS MY FAVORITE! Thank you dearest for your visit; it makes me happy to receive comments that encourage and shape the reason why I write. I went to a writers' guild last night for an informal sharing session and I felt so intimidated and actually confused about my abilities! Your little getaways here are calling me think through my writing goals with a sweet cup of tea and a relaxing afternoon! Oh how I crave that!!! Have a lovely day, Anita

We love these little hide-a-ways. Wouldn't it have been wonderful to have one of these when we were little girls. Adore the second and sixth image. Would love to have these in our backyard.

As a kid, I always wanted a playhouse in the backyard where I could get away from it all…my parents put in a pool instead.
Now I can put in my own!
Thanks for the inspiration,
